paranoid linux sadgirl with imposter syndrome
I came to upvote the TC link comment and my mission was a success
one of my intern cohorts upon seeing a bunch of starch granules in an algal TEM: “are these cells kinda… fat?”
supervisor: basically yes
(makes sense as we cultured them under blazing 24/7 LED lights in rich growth media)
i love him
I can literally do that lmao. Feels awesome when you’re extremely dehydrated. Probably not good for you though
I think I might have a weird shaped mouth haha. To be honest I usually find ice cold drinks to also be too cold overall and painful on my throat. I drink any fluid like someone who just walked a day in a desert with no water…
Actually, you know what I do like ice in? My hot drinks! I put a few cubes per cup of hot coffee or tea so I can drink it NOW, not in 20 minutes when it’s safe consumption temperature but I’ll have forgotten where the hell I put the mug
you can have all of mine 💀
Ice in drinks, because I hate straws so I almost exclusively drink from the side of the glass. Ice slams into my teeth and makes me rage. What a first world problem lol
This thing!
It’s hilarious, and a damn good phone holder. Freaked out a few family members when they saw just one part of it sticking out of my luggage, before I could explain 😅
does it rhyme with Schmennsylvania? lol
and it looks like a bell pepper!!!
apparently the press thinks people without degrees are incapable of looking at transmission electron micrographs without gaudy nearly-useless false color
Homestuck phase 😬
I like to think I was in the middle of the cringeometer for that fandom but who knows.
Historic preservation sites and/or museums that preserve/recreate settings from the past, because I love technology history and immersive experiences.
Actually that reminds me I also love immersive interactive art exhibits such as those by Meow Wolf, Otherworld, and Inter_.
Also escape rooms and other puzzle/adventure rooms because they’re interactive.
Also conventions because I’m a nerd. :]
The “I figured it out!” feeling!!! Solving a particularly difficult problem, or the moment when something you’ve been struggling to understand finally “clicks.”
I’ve been in love, had great food and drinks and been to a few amazing far off places, had great orgasms, enjoyed awesome stories in various forms of media, etc. but nothing compares.
Fixing something you thought was probably going to end up trashed is also a great feeling. I would call it a subcategory of the “I figured it out!” feeling, though.
It’s this stuff:
My former boss’s wife is Thai and empathized with my hatred of mosquito bites, so she gifted it to me. Apparently it’s not uncommon to carry it in your purse over there. I live in the US and have seen it at Asian pharmacies.
Likely any strong herbal extract oil applied under the nose would have the same (I’m assuming mostly psychological) mild stimulating effect. Just make sure whatever it is, it’s safe to apply topically.
A tiny vial of peppermint clove oil. I struggle with sleepiness and lack of focus so after I’ve had an inadvisable amount of caffeine and am still not functional, I dab a bit right under my nostrils to help me wake up and focus a bit better
Also works as mosquito repellent on some species so if I forget bug spray I use some of this instead
meanwhile the last NRC audit at my workplace, the inspectors didn’t even use the hand and foot exit monitors on their way out. 🤦♀️
I actually worried for a bit that it was a test and they were looking for someone to stop them, but nothing was on the report. smh
