I feel it is pretty applicable to my short experience on the Fediverse so far, since the decentralizaiton aspect of it is offset by the fact that user data is tied heavily to the server you register to, and that the server can dictate what other content you see. Intuitively, it makes more sense that if you want better moderation and social trust, the facebook model is the better place to start than the twitter one.
