Same here, been watching and testing closely from day one, and the AI hate is certainly understandable, but it is a new tool in the toolbox, and once you learn how to use it correctly and understand it’s limitations (e.g. you wouldn’t use a hammer to build a 50 meter bridge span) it can provide quite a bit of leverage, which saves you time and let’s you spend more time scrolling on Lemmy and writing comments like these.

The AI hype, particularly in the financial markets is really overbought IMO, and that’s the bubble that is bursting, egged on by the tariffs and general geopolitical uncertainty. (I’ve only yesterday realised that the Climate Emergency will never be properly priced into the markets)

Anyway, just 100% agreeing: AGI let alone ASI is not happening, and most likely the destruction of our civilisation (first by war, then by natural disaster) will likely preceed it, especially if we were hoping to roll it out in a responsible and regulated manner.

I’m the same, I don’t care about the karma aspect, I do care when it is strategically used by hidden interests to keep certain content ranked lower and push content they like up.

I wouldn’t worry as much about Alt-Right conservatives here - they tried but couldn’t get a foothold, and after being defederated from all instances eventually collapsed internally, and went to Truth Social. Here, we ironically have much more to worry about from the Alt-Left that uses identical patterns of behaviors, just ostensibly on the “left”.

So an r/TheDonald situation on Lemmy would effectively mean this community can exist forever until it is just lonely sitting by itself defederated from every other instance in the lemmyverse (fediverse?). So it is impossible to basically shut something like that down on a global scale, only to North Korea it. (At which point, as the analogy goes, they are forced to send their soldiers to help with the Russians and find a way to make trouble that way)

Ty. That stuff should be available in mobile clients too. It could definitely be better visually represented and contain a reason and a defederated since date or more.

I think federation needs to be better explained possibly here either with a sticky or sidebar. And a diagram of who we are federated with and not that’s live updated would be helpful too.

Ok thanks. I’m a little confused by what that means for voting. Is it possible that anti authoritarian posts or comments still get downvote- brigaded by an instance that is technically defederated from the instance of the OP?

So let’s say instance A and B are defederated from each other, but both are with instance C. User from A posts something on C and every B user still gets to downvote everything to oblivion right?

My question stands though, I sense that “political” is used fairly broadstrokely It almost means “complicated, longer than 5 second attention span” stuff.

With political meaning “relating to the government or public affairs of a country”, e.g. a broad definition too. However, a free person being essentially abducted on the street by plain clothes “law enforcement” could perhaps be seen as a humanitarian, civil liberty, freedom of speech, and some many others before it being just “political”.

Is there a guideline on Lemmy why we let the tankies be part of this or is a bit of an analogy to the r/TheDonald situation on Reddit? As in: I hope that we don’t slide the same way.

Those are good reasons to ditch a product. Yet, at the same time, inside the Apple ecosystem this is the only browser that allows cross platform watching of yt without any ads, therefore suffocating Google and the fat cat MKBHD influencers from income.

Of course the best path forward would be to ditch both Brave and yt and then just get Nebula/patreon or something for serious content browsing.

The funny thing is that the YT comment section was almost immediately brigaded by Elmo suckups that complained the tester was using Autopilot and not the latest version of FSD, completely forgoing the point that the LiDar vehicle stopped despite any automation systems being turned on.

This was a test of the emergency braking systems of both cars in as close to real world scenarios as possible. Whether you run over a child in heavy rain or dense fog should not be dependent on whether the driver remembered to turn certain safety systems on prior to departure.

Not to mention no govt agency will investigate properly because he’s got root access to that too. All those deaths are entirely preventable.

Keep burning them, keep protesting at the dealerships. This truly could be the first billionaire we bring down. Watch him activate the OTA kill switch in every Tesla before they go under too. He’s thát kind of baby. Ironically that would save a lot of lives.
